EasyTurf Synthetic Grass Offers A Water Conservation Solution So Simple An Eighth Grader Understands It Text

ESCONDIDO, Calif. — July 15th, 2009 — In November of 2008, at the Indian Wells Green Drive, eighth grader Karly Munoz was looking for a “green” product to write an essay on for a contest at her middle school. There were many different “green” products featured at the event, but Karly, like many other Southern Californians, chose EasyTurf, Southern California’s largest synthetic grass and backyard golf green company, for its water saving attributes and environmental benefits.

When asked why she chose EasyTurf over so many other green products, Karly stated, “I thought it was a really good idea to have artificial grass because you save a lot of water.” With cities all over Southern California declaring level two droughts that require mandatory water conservation and rate increases, homeowners and businesses are heeding Karly’s advice and replacing their natural grass with EasyTurf synthetic grass.

EasyTurf synthetic grass is realistic, soft and more importantly, requires no water. This important fact has encouraged over 5,000 Southern California residents to install EasyTurf instead of natural grass, states David Hartman, President of EasyTurf and member of the Synthetic Turf Council. “We have experienced huge growth over the last eight years, much of which is due to EasyTurf’s low maintenance and realistic look, but recently, the number of inquiries coming from people trying to save water has just exploded.”

In the United States, the average home uses approximately 163,000 gallons of water annually, so a synthetic lawn can save up to 114,000 gallons of water per year. Beyond being one of the most effective water conservation products available, EasyTurf has numerous other environmental benefits. It is 100% recyclable, reduces carbon emissions from mowers and reutilizes waste material from car tires. It also has a tremendous life span, lasting 20 to 25 years, which reduces the harvesting of raw materials for production.

“At one point, a representative from one of the Southern California water districts told me if 10% of San Diego’s population installed EasyTurf, there wouldn’t be any future water shortages. EasyTurf saves money because it requires virtually no maintenance and dramatically reduces water bills allowing it to pay for itself in a matter of years. It really is a great opportunity to save water and money,” continued Hartman.
