RANCHO CUCAMONGA - The grass is always greener on the other side - especially if the other side is the Cucamonga Valley Water District.
The agency recently installed an area of artificial turf outside its administration building, giving residents a chance to see and feel faux grass. The 500 square feet of synthetic turf was provided by Easy Turf Corp. and is used as a demonstration area to encourage residents to think about alternatives to the natural but often thirsty lawns.
According to the water district, an average household can save up to 163,000 gallons of water annually by installing fake grass. Another advantage is that the grass will always stay green.
The demonstration area is at 10440 Ashford St. For more information about the water district, call (909) 987-2591 or visit www.cvwdwater.com
