August 3, 2005, San Diego, CA — EasyTurf announces that it has completed the installation of the FieldTurf synthetic turf at the San Diego Zoo’s Hippo Island and the Wild Animal Park’s Animal Presentation Area, to provide more attractive settings and a safer play surface for children. Keeping these areas serene had been difficult due to heavy foot traffic and wear from both animals and humans.
EasyTurf is the exclusive San Diego distributor of FieldTurf™, the leading synthetic turf that is installed on a multitude of sports fields around the world, and The National Football League, Major League Baseball and college and high school playing surfaces in the U.S.A. These sports teams have discovered that FieldTurf is a more realistic and safer alternative to traditional synthetic turf and is a more durable, lower-maintenance substitute for natural grass.
The Zoo and Wild Animal Park installations add to an impressive list of commercial clients in Southern California that include; Sea World of San Diego, LEGOLAND, Humphries by-the-Bay, The San Diego Chargers, The San Diego State Aztecs and The San Diego Humane Society. FieldTurf is installed on more than 35 high school sports fields in the area as well.
“We are very excited about working with the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park”, states David Hartman, President of EasyTurf, Inc. “Installing our turf at prestigious locations such as these validates the problem-solving viability of FieldTurf, especially when there are kids and animals involved.”
With over 800 installations, EasyTurf is the leading provider of synthetic turf for the Southern California residential and commercial market. Customers find that by installing FieldTurf, they will have a lawn that is cleaner, greener and safer than real grass. They enjoy the benefits of real grass without the hassles of seeding, re-sodding, watering, aerating, or mowing. Dog owners are especially fervent due to the products durability and drainage capability.
FieldTurf is a blend of polyethylene and polypropylene and silica sand that gives years of grass-like appearance and use without the regular maintenance of natural grass. The installation process includes a layer of decomposed granite. The turf is secured over the granite base. It is then in-filled with a rubber infill system. This simple installation provides the safest, most effective surface that is resistant to temperature extremes, drains better than real grass, and is extremely low-maintenance.
