In 1999, La Jolla High School began researching solutions for our stadium field problem. We have the smallest campus and athletic facilities in the San Diego Unified School District. Six physical education classes and thirteen athletic teams share our one athletic field. With the overuse of our field, our school spent thousand of dollars annually in maintenance costs to try and keep grass growing. No matter what we did, the field quickly became dirt/mud and a safety liability. After struggling for years, we had to find a safer and more cost effective athletic field. We chose to install Fieldturf in June of 2000. Fieldturf has been the answer to our athletic field problems. It has given us a safe, reliable and first class facility that is available year round to our students and the community.

The safety of our students and student athletes has always been our primary concern. Fieldturf has greatly alleviated our concerns. In the years previous to our installation of Fieldturf, knee and ankle injuries were a major problem due to the condition of our field. The first year we installed Fieldturf, our injuries were drastically reduced. Our professional trainer, our staff, and our parents are extremely pleased with the safety of the field.
